Question What type of wrasse with bare bottom?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering what type of wrasse you can keep with a barebottom tank.? I think the flasher wrasse family are some of them, but I wanted to know what other people are keeping.

Also, if you are keeping various wrasse in a bare bottom tank are you doing anything special for it, and how long have you had it?

Thanks,
Dale

Fairy and Flasher wrasses both do not burrow in the sand so they would be good choices.

You could keep a six lined wrasse in your tank. I have had mine since September 2005 in a 25 gallon tank with a pair of seahorses and a few other small fish. Some people say these are aggressive, but mine never bothered anything.

One trick you can try so that you can keep any wrasse you want in a BB tank is to place a small container of sand in a hidden spot for teh wrasse. I've seen it done before and have also read of it working for others. The wrasse will find it and use it as his home. Just an idea for you.

Well its good to know of other people with wrasse in the bare-bottom.

Blown63, I have seen that as well, but prefer not to do that if I do not have to...

Understand, just giving you a few options.

I have a beautiful Red Corris wrasse in my reef and he loves to bury in the sand. It would be a way to keep one in a BB tank.

The possum wrasse is a cool fish. I just recently added one to my tank.
