Karen, Did you buy one there? I didn't know they were selling them. I asked about keeping one in my fuge but they said I'd have to keep the tank below 76. I'm lucky to keep it below 81 during these hotter months. The did tell my a pipefish would love to live in my fuge, so I'm on the hunt now!

I had bought them from a breeder friend of mine and displayed them at IMAC
I keep the horse tank at 72
Seahorse.org put a pair of southern H. erectus in the raffle, which were donated from the breeder of my 4 erectus
mine were the biggest erectus there and love being home

What do you do to cool the tank? Where are they from, that they need it so cool? I've been diving in much warmer waters & seen horses living there.

Pipefish are pod preditors. So....are you going to make a new refugium so you can supply pods to the pipefish that lives in the aquarium that was formerly known as the 'fuge'? Or do you have a really large fuge that so that your pipefish can eat with out depopulating the pods and still leave some leftover that may make it into the display?

Erectus are from the atlantic
in home aquariums at elevated temps of upper 70's they seem to die from bacterial infections. myco and vibrio are the 2 biggest/worse pathagens in our tanks for horses
now barbs like it hot, barbouri keep well at 78F, and in my opinion are possible the most beautiful of seahorses
but if you go with capensis, abdominalis, or breviceps you need to maintain low 60's
