Durso standpipe in DIY 6" pvc overflow?

Hi all!

I was wanting to do a 6" PVC DIY overflow on my new 45g tall tank. The problem is that I'm concerned if I do so, I won't have enough room for a durso standpipe.

Do any of you guys know if there would be enough room? I'm planning on 1" bulkheads just because those are the diamond hole saw size I got and I can DIY the bulkheads for cheap.

Thanks!

Brandon

I don't think it will fit using 1"PVC to make the DURSO. My Overflow is 7 1/4" and a 1" PVC DURSO just fit. Make it 7 1/2 and you should be fine. That is if you plan to use only 1" PVC to make it.

When you say 7.5", do you mean 7.5" square, or just 7.5" wide and maybe 2" or 3" deep or what? Forgive my ignorance.

Sorry for the confusion.

My dimensions are:

Inside box: 8" X 3" X 6.5"
Outside box: 8" X 4.5" X 11"

Width x Depth x Height

Brandon,

Please post pictures of what you end up doing. I also want to drill a 45 but I'm not sure if I want do go the durso route or what...

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin!

FWIW, at this point I'm thinking that I may just do a Calfo style overflow... but I'm not positive. I'll keep you posted.

If you want to you can empploy a pair of 45 degree fitting in the riser section. You can use them to offset the 90 degree fitting to make the unit more compact.
