The power compacts, for that size of tank would work just fine, butT-5's are cooler and bulbs last longer. If money isnt an issue i would buy you the t-5's otherwise you should be fine with the PC's...

I have 3 gold stripe maroons in my 70 gal. And they still to this day separate off and on, but for the most part there together all the time, but some days they all off doing there own things.

Well if your going to use a QT tank i would say yes, i think thats the purpose of using the QT tank. That way you wont affect your tank, but you could also use it as you said to treat it with garlic...

Yes there is a fish trap, check out any of the big name aqaurium stores on line or local and they will carry them, you will probly need to put in the tank a few days closed so the fish will get used...

Yes it does, actually if you buffer your top off water you will most likely not have to add buffer to your tank. Basically you should buffer any water going into the tank. Good luck
