Most tanks swing .3 in a day anyway. As long as the pH doesn't keep dropping and the corals look cool you will be fine.

Definitely feed it more veggies in his diet. Use Nori and let it graze on it. Although Tangs will eat anything with gusto, they need a lot of vegetable matter in their diet.
