I'm using an MJ600 with a valve on it truned back to restrict some flow. I like it because it doesn't leak but it would be nicer if they were bigger.

Use a shim. That way as you slide the shim out the magnets will gently attach without slapping the glass. Or what ppurcell suggested. Either way will work.
