Growth Rates

If you were to keep the following together

1)Large angelfish sp
2)Butterflyfish sp
3)Triggerfish sp
4)Tang sp

All at 3 inches, which would grow the quickest ? Also, which will create the biggest poop mess ?

depends how well you feed them also depends on which kind of tangs you talking about. usually the Naso have fastest growth rate ; such as vlamingi, unicorn ...etc ( i had a unicorn that was 3.5", 3 months later , he was 5"+). As far as poop mess, i am assuming you are talking about nitrate and phosphate. the Tangs usually eat alot more than others, but mostly are herbivore, so they will poo alot, but not too bad cuz they are mostly herbivore. with my experience, triggers poop less, but they create more bio load cuz they eat "meat" instead of algae.

if u don't mind me ask, what size of tank do u have ?

o they are not presently in.

I'm just planning things out, as it was interesting to see which ones will grow fastest (and thus likely be the more dominant feeders)

My butterflyfish is growing very slowly (punctato). I thought tangs were probably the fastest growers as well, good for confirmation.

My bluethroat trigger eats more mysis/formula 1 pellets then my angelfish (but not spirulina and nori)..and seems to create a lot less poop than my emperor angelfish, which drops a large green log out.
Both are around the same total size, so just wondering if this applies to most triggers/angels.

AS far as your original question i think the angel would be the fastest grower once he starts taking off then followed closley by the trigger and tang and so on
