Powder Blue SPS Muncher

I have a Powder Blue Tang in my 180 that seems to be developing a taste for a blue tipped stag and a teal acro. Has anyone ever experienced this type of behavior in a powder blue? He is a really beautiful fish, and I would hate to boot him out of the reef.

I am wondering what could be the cause of this sudden attraction to coral munching.

Any help would be appreciated.

mine macks on a purple gorgonia but never seen him harass anything else

to be perfectly honest, I think the only reason he eats it is it is the only thing in the way of his 6 foot path across the front of the tank...........

Sure he's not picking at algae that may be starting to grow on the SPS??? Mine sometimes picks around corals and sometimes looks like he may be taking a bite out. Never have seen him target any coral...

I've had this issue before. Try feeding more often. They only touch the softer tipped ones.

Just had the same problem. Try feeding him more they love nori. If that does not work then get him out.

I tried feeding mine more but he still nipped at my sps. So he had to go.

I have a buddy that broke his 125 down and if I remember correctly the powder blue was a perfect citizen until he started breaking down the reef. Once he started removing corals and such the powder blue went nuts and attacked every sps he had.... Did you change anything in the tank?
