problem with a xxxlg stars and stripes puffer

professional help needed.
puffer has been upside down for a week now. very alert.
has swollen abdomum on both sides of rectum.
I thought it might be trapped air, I tried squeezing and a syringe but to no avail. the swelling seems to be growing very fast. The swelling started after a formalin treatment. A rabbit fish in the same system had a similar reaction but released the pressure though a open sore and getting healthy. will have pics tomorrow night. Does anyone have some knowledge to save this puffer!!!!!!!!!!
thanks . malcolm

When you treated with formalin - did you treat in the tank or in a separate bath?

Did you stick the swelling with a needle/syringe - did you aspirate anything?

Did you stick the rabbit as well?

How long did you treat with formalin? What concentration? What water circulation/,movement was in the formalin treatment?
