Sad looking frogspawn (pics)

Hmmm.... doesn't look like much but it does have the potential to be a problem. Use a high power magnifying glass, jeweler's loupe or a mesoscope (see the term in a search of my forum) to look for parasites.

There are also some band algae that form rings in time around coral polyps .Unlikely though here (see more on digitate Alcyoniids)

its unmistakable once developed... it looks like a thin "ring" (~2mm wide) of dark green/black algae.
