If it doean't say aquarium safe on the package, I wouldn't use it. ....however the specs on this say it is mildew resistant. That means there is some chmeical in the mix to make it do that.

NOT SILICONE II!!! Silicone 1 in the gray and blue tube is ok, the red tubes have bio-seal in them for anti-mold, VERY bad.

all the silicone 1's I've seen are in blue tubes, the silicone II's I've seen are in red(w/ bioseal). Just making sure he doesn't use a product that will kill his tank.

I've used both types of silicone and so have several people I know. I think this is a myth thing. As long as it is given time to cure, you will be fine. I've never seen a single issue with silicone at all. If you want to feel more safe, then use the 1, but I have used both 1 and 2 with no issues.

Jay,
Have you used the new version of Silicone II with the bioseal or what every they are calling it now in it?

If it is the same thing as the mold inhibitor, then yes. I'll have to ask the store to see if it is the same thing now or if they renamed it to something "catchy".

All GE Silicone IIs have the bioseal, whether it's labeled as such or not, per GE themselves. There has been a big debate over this on all the dart frog forums, but people have used it there without problems so far.
