Quiet/splashless Skimmer Output

on a skimmer with a regular diameter output, something you can slid a piece of pvc onto, just run a section down to the water level in the sump, it should be very quiet...

mine
3 pipes: left most white is skimmer output, runs down to the water level, this one will get moved once im finished, it will be ran outside the skimmer bucket, no need to reskim the same water over and over.. center gray is skimmer pump right most white is tank drain , feeds a bucket my skimmer sits in.. the bucket makes a ton of noise because i havent finished yet... but the skimmer drain, as long as it is pipped down to the water line will be quiet... there maybe a great reason not to do it this way, but i dont know it.. |

I have my return culminating in a 'T' right at the water surface, with 2 more T's on either side...
* Ignore the surface scum in the sump, because the skimmer had been off for feeding. |

I like the one with the T's Tgreene, the one before just outputs right into the sump off a 90 then down, that splashes and is noisy trying to get away from that, I think that can add back pressure on the skimmer if that type of output is under water

I used a PVC 45 degree elbow and a length of pipe that drains just above the water level. This pic shows part of it. It runs silent.
