90 Tangs

I am going to be setting up a 90 gallon fish tank. And i wanted to add 3 yellow tangs and only a couple of more fish - not many - Would 3 tangs be ok or could i add 1 yellow, 1 gold rim & 1 sailfin?.or maybe just a yellow and a sailfin.

No. The tank is too small to house one for any length of time.

I believe that a 90 is fine for a small yellow tang. Most will say 75 min. for a yellow tang

Yeah, I agree with only 1 tang in a 75/90/110.

I had a 125 Gal reef set up and had a yellow and a powder blue together and they did just great. Three would be way to many in my opinion.

A sailfin will get too large for even a 120g IMO.

You should be fine with a yellow, kole, tomini, maybe a convict or mimic in a 48" long tank (75g-110g), but none of the larger tangs will work (even as juvis). For larger tangs, you'll need at least a 6' long tank and three tangs, no matter what kind, is pushing it unless you're considering something over 200g.

What about smaller species of Tang? A Tomini Bristletooth tang only grows to about 6 in and will help control any algea. I love mine. Very active and the color is beautiful. Yellow on fins and opal type body. Mix with ???? Just add at the same time.

Kole Tang is a great fish. Lots of personality and would do good in your 90.

IME a yellow and sailfin will fight, but you could get lucky and get some nice ones.

If you are going to house one Zebrasoma tang appropriate for the size of the tank, I'd recommend a red sea Purple Tang. They are a bit more pricey, but much more interesting than the ubiquitous yellows. Very good fish for keeping the rocks clean as well.

I have had a purple tang and a sailfin tang together in a 90 for a couple of years already (about 3). They get along just fine. I had the purple tang first (I've had him for a around 6 years) The sailfin is larger and I introduced him later. I rearranged the rocks right before putting him in. I might just be lucky, but it has worked out fine.

the only problem is that in the UK they really have these tangs available, the only ones that are regularyly available are Yellow, Powder Blue, Gold Rim, Sailfin & Regal. Its the same with coral ive NEVER seen a hammer coral available there is 100's of things that arent available over here. I saw a lamnmower blenny available for the first time yesterday.
