Holy crap get some new bulbs!

I had a few hiccups lost a few frags and killed some tips on a few colonies a couple months ago. Picked up on the maintenance did work I should have been doing but the coral where not really turning around like I'd like. My bulbs had just past the year mark. 20K 400W in a lumni. Still bright still blue right. I finally coughed up the money for 3 new bulbs and all I can say is DAMN.

Killer growth and color from the coral that stayed healthy and the beat up stuff stopped slowly STNing.

If you think you've got a few more months in your bulbs replace 'em.

Funny this is the first time I've ever had to replace bulbs. Up until now I just alway upgraded tanks and replaced all the lighting

the 440 won't overdrive VHO's they only overdrive T5HO's

Hey Matt, it's a personal preference of mine but I would rather have VHO over T5's for actinics any day. Granted T5's will have greater output in terms of PAR but the coloration just isn't there for me. I've tried the ATI Pro Color, Giesemann Actinic + and the UVL Super Actinics in T5. I didn't like any of them much but there's not a lot I can do about it since my fixture has the T5's built into it. BTW, I'm back to supplementing my MH(Giesemann 250W SE Megachrome 14.5K) with the Giesemann Actinic + bulbs.

^^ Holy **** he's still alive!

And also - you can overdrive pretty much any bulb with a VHO ballast, except VHOs of course. That just wouldn't make any damned sense.
