all my fish had a similar issue, it killed my clown trigger and nearly my queen trigger. I could not find any info on the disease.

my queen trigger just seemed to recover on her own. I never even took her out of my display. But I didn't think she was going t o make it. She lost a ton a weight because she refused to eat and she could bearly swim and was floating almost sideways. This happened a few weeks ago and it was only this weekend that I could say that she is at 100%

Does it look like the skin is cloudy or more tattered? A pic would be most beneficial.

Could be a monogenean Infestation. History/Physical Exam: Cloudiness to skin; grey-white cast or irregular areas on skin; eroded fins; focal hemorrhages on skin; pruritus and dyspnea. There are lots of treatments, including formalin baths and prolonged formalin immersion, freshwater bath, Praziquantel bath, copper, etc.
Could also be Icthyobodosis, which has some of the same treatments, like a formalin bath or you can raise temp to >30C if the others dont work. |

It would be rubbing if it had a parasite or itchy infection. If a fish is ever rubbing against anything that is a definite sign of pathogen infection.

in addition to my fish having flakey skin and losing their color they were scratching against everything. I did nothing and only lost 1 fish (which was the first to die and died before I could figure out what was happening). They have since stopped scratching and are fully recovered. I wish I had taken pics, it would have been helpful to others.
