Arrow Please point me to some information on SHs

Hello

I am thinking about getting into seahorses in a few months when my basement is finished and my new reef tank will be installed...my current reef tank is a 44 gallon pentagon and its contents will be moved into the new tank. I was thinking this tank (44) would make an excellent peaceful SH tank...so I am asking anyone that has any links, book referrals, advice on equipment, etc. please share with me...I really want to spend the time that I have now to research so I am very comfortable with maintaining this sort of tank...I am in no rush whatsoever. Thanks in advance.

One of the best places for seahorse information is www.seahorse.org.

I have seahorses in a 44 gallon pent. I did find it difficult to control nuisance algae, but a DSB helped a lot. It's a pretty full tank. I have a protein skimmer, 4" DSB, and a couple powerheads for circulation at the surface and behind 30 lbs or so of live rock.

The tank houses:

5 large erectus seahorses
1 pair barbouri seahorses
1 pair comes seahorses
about 6 large peppermint shrimp
yasha shrimp goby and tiger pistol shrimp pair
hogchoker (a flat fish)
some mushrooms and a finger leather coral
I just have 2 x 36-watt PCs on the tank, it's ok, but I will probably upgrade.

Everything is pretty stable - I've had most of the animals together for between 8 and 15 months, no deaths during that time.

have any pics of your tank? I would definitely like to see how you structured it...YES...algae is a problem...must be due to the irregular shape...not a problem with my reef setup with the high flow now but with SHs, needs to be a lot more tame...looking forward to seeing some pics.

I have posted some on seahorse.org, not very good quality. I use the same screen name, LisaD there. You can search posts by username and key words. My photos are in the "Seahorse Photos" forum. I don't have a working camera right now, but will try to post some pics soon.
