You'll have to have some help to aid in cooling of the glass; someone to spray water on the area you are drilling.

In boath acrylic and glass tanks I always put them to where there is water in them. One has to wave the water to keep the bit and meterial cool. Or if there is a friend he can spray water on it for you. Though my friends always charge me a 6pack of beer.

drop the water level down about 6 inch under the cut. cut a paper plate in half and put papertowls around the flat end. have some one place the plate under where you are cuting...keeps the glass particals out of the water... then get a spray bottel. i use RODI water just because if it does get into the tank. i use a dermel with a conical dimond bit and start squirting the place where you are cutting. the point is to keep the bit and glass cool at the cutting surface because if it gets to hot you are going to potentialy temper the glass and then crack it. dont push the bit had let the bit do the cuting. i am not in any way responsible if you crack or break your tank in the use of the method i just described.
