So I've been holding out....

Well, after the first mantis showed up at my LFS, I decided that I would finally put the money into getting one as well, even though I didn't think I was ready financially to. The one at the LFS disappeared pretty quickly, so I had them go ahead and order me another one.

So... a month later and a cycled tank, she was now ready to be put in her new home and shown off. She had been living in my QT that's been set up for a year, but as it's only a 10g she was showing signs of being restless in such a small space.

Now she's happily in a 28g bowfront. She came to me pretty beat up and missing one of her antennal scales which I'm hoping will regrow as she molts as well as some other things being torn up.

Also, what's going on with the white spot on each side of her tail? Is that normal or is it something I should be worried about?

Just wondering, is there any reason every peacock i see on forums seems to be a female? Are they easier to collect? Hardier?

I was thinking just the opposite, three of my four mantis are males. I remember Dr. Roy saying something about this , but can't remember what he said.

Yeah most of the ones that I've seen for sale are males as well. Several weeks ago, Premium Aquatics had a HUGE male for sale. He was quite spectacular with his bright emerald green. They also wanted $100 for him though.
