You can put it in your system now. Mangroves need to be in sand. I know some that submerge the entire thing and let it grow up out of the water, but I've never done so. If I see new growth at the tip like these had, that section is above water.

There's an article about mangroves in RKO (Reefkeeping Online, www.reefkeeping.com )

The LFS I used to work at carried Sera foods, they were pretty good stuff. I hadn't seen hide nor hair of them since then though, it was pretty cool to come across their booth.

Thank you. I'll see what I can find out from there also.

If you are searching by Author, look for Anthony Calfo.

Thanks Melv for taking the time to do that for me. I printed it out so I could keep it handy. I'm looking forward to having it as part of my tank.

What is the blue material they are using in the sump? Looks like a furnace filter.

LOL, maybe it is. I've had filters that came with blue filter material like that.

Thanks for the pics - I was there and bought a couple Clownfish from Coral Dynamics - I couldn't remember the company's name but have been wanting to contact them regarding what they were feeding the clowns. They seem like picky eaters - I went to their website and found out what they were feeding so now I can do the same. Now if they would only host with my Anemone! Anyway, thanks again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. Thanks, Melev, for going to all the trouble to post all those pictures. You really gave us a great feel for what it's about. I sure would love to go next year after reading these posts!

Hopefully those of you thinking about it will just bite the bullet, trust me and the Atlanta Reef Club and commit to attending. You'll have a blast.

I had a person contact me via email yesterday about how they were going to go on Saturday, then go out to dinner with his family to save some money. I didn't tell him what I really thought: "Dude! You can eat dinner 364 other days of the year. Go to MACNA, enjoy the Saturday night Gala at the Georgia Aquarium, and enjoy some of the speaker's presentations."

Hmm. Maybe I should have told him that after all.

MACNA next year is going to be great. I usually am involved in a giant fund raiser that weekend and can't really get away for the whole weekend. So I am flying down Friday night staying for 24 hours and Flying back Saturday Night. I was told by MrsT that I am nuts but Hey it's MACNA.

Thanks for all the pics Melev and it was good meeting you and talking with you.

Scott

PS I agree with you can go out to dinner the other 364 days

Since this thread is finally rolling down to the anals of RC, I just wanted to say thanks to all who showed an old time reefer what this hobby has become. Having been doing this for over 20 years, it's great to see the amount of people now living their lives around their tanks. I never thought I would get to see Calfo again even though he's the one whom I started in this adventure with 20 years back. Meeting and conversing with tons of RC'ers whom while I'd never met but had typed to, was great. Becomming friends with quite a few was even better.

Until Atlanta.........

I learned *after* MACNA XIX...

Read the lounge before going to MACNA if I want to meet up with RC'ers during MACNA...

We're already registered for MACNA Dos Equis, so I hope to meet more folks there.

Also Sonja--this year was a bad example, but if you want to know where the party is, ask a seahorse person. It's usually in their suite . If you can bring a pirate costume or a sock puppet it will get you more free beer too.

Just in case you need to know that
