Any experiences with Blue-Streak Cardinals (A. leptacanthus)?

Has anyone ever kept blue-streak cardinals? They're now available from ORA but I've never heard much about them. Do they have a peaceful temperament? Can they tolerate high flow? Are they mouth brooders?

Peaceful.. Great fish. Perfect schooling fish. Mouth breeders, they love flow. Stay close together. Ideal reef fish.

Leonardo's Reef has some in his tank. I looked them up last night after reviewing his build thread...he talks about them at some point.

I have been trying to get a large stable school in my system for about 6 months now;

The only issue (and its been a huge one) is that they ship very very poorly, so some come in not eating, and never start eating, and die.

I have 7 healthy eating threadfins, but have lost aprox. 20 to get here. (First batch of 10 from LiveAquaria all died in 2 weeks). Next, got a batch of 5 from LiveAquaria Diver's Den; all survived. Then, got a batch of 13 from LFS -- 11 died. Will hopefully be adding ~3-5 more in the next week or so.

So far they seem to deal with my flow (which is tons)... but I would not recommend strong flow for them until they start eating. Otherwise keep them in a calm setting.

How much is ORA charging for them? I'd love to see how theyre breeding them, cause the only other person I saw come close lost all of the babies after 45 days.

I have no idea how much ORA has them for, they only sell to wholesalers. Hmm... they're pretty, but I don't think I'm willing to put up with that level of losses. Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't realize they were so hard. The site I was looking at last night said they were super easy. Marinecenter maybe?

They are easy.. after they get over being shipped

They are very binary... theyre either a 1 or a 0.. 1's eat, and eat ANYTHING, and tons.. 0's dont eat.. no matter what you feed them; live or frozen or processed.

My dispar anthias were easier to get to eat!

I have 5...I started with 3...all eating spectrum within a few weeks...then I added 3 more. One didnt make it but the rest are doing great. They are all little pigs too! Always near the feeder waiting for food! I love the fact that they are always sticking together. Very cool fish and color up nicely once they settle in.

the waikiki aquarium has about 25 in one of their displays. Its a beautiful tank with that many (could be more) and i believe they breed regularly between 5-10 females (it looks like 2 or 3 are always pregnant.

I didn't know they shipped so poorly either. ORA may not be breeding them, but importing them (they import as well)
