Tang A-----If you buy one of those $1/g glass tanks from 6th ave and then you set it up as a reef or house anything of any value in it, sooner more than latter, you will cry.
Those tanks are made by chinese here in U.S. at least is what the chinese guy told me when I asked about the tanks. According to him, those tanks are not imported from china, but at any rate, the fact is tha the quality is as bad as it gets. You may be better off just giving a 5yr old some glass pannels and a silicone tube to build you a tank. I am sure it will be better than the ones they sell there. At the time, I didn't know better!
I bought a 100 gallon set up from them, filled it up with water and it was leaking. I told the chinese guy and her told me that he had never had a problem and that it most have been water from the time I set the tank. I took his word for it and went home. The next day, after coming home from school, I found the tank empty, the goldfish dried and dead, and water all over the garage. I told the guy at the store and he told me tha it most have been that I had damaged the tank. BS!
Now that I know the quality of his glass tanks, I wouldn't buy anything there that wasn't a Truvu, and even then I would rather give my money to a more honorable store. He is the kind of person who will tell you that you can mix oscars with goldfish any day.
If you can resist, stay away from those tanks and the store owner's suggestions. After you set up a tank, you will have quiet a bit of money invested on live stock.

All the best to you!

... the store is sketchy (there's a few threads about their lovely practice of selling nautilus as acceptable reef inhabitants). I have no experience w/ their tanks, but I do know the one's actually made and used by all the stores in Hong Kong seem like decent quality. They have beautiful reef displays there that have been in the store tanks for many years. Anyone else buy one of these $1 per gallon tanks @ 6th avenue, or anywhere else?

Ice-Probe Chiller w/ Controller for sale

I have an Ice-Probe Chiller and Controller combo (with power supply) for sale in Sunnyvale $100.00 OBO.

I used it for about 5 months on a Nano-Reef and it has been in storage ever since I moved to my current tank. It is in perfect working order, and I will say that there is one scratch across the threads where the plastic coating is scratched off. I was told that some clear (non-toxic) nail polish will seal it with no worries.

The controller is awesome, set and forget once dialed in (easy to do). This would be a great addition to anyone with a smaller tank (under 20 gal) that needs to drop the temp a few degrees. I had it on a 7 gal and it dropped it 6-8 degrees no problem. Anyone with a 30 gal or more, please look elsewhere - this does not provide sufficient cooling for larger tanks, only smaller ones.

The chiller normally sells for $100 and the Controller for another $50.

Selling:

40g glass sump/fuge. It has a compartment that can be used as a fuge or as a skimmer compartment. Fits a large skimmer or a large refugium. Pump reservoir seperate. Built to allow use of filter pads or floss and has spot for heaters and other constantly submersed items.

Bad picture but you get the idea. Water flows in at right and is pumped out at left. If you have any questions just pm me or email me at gatohoser@yahoo.com

Asking $59. Costs more than that just to build it again. Has no problems. Just has calcium buildup from use. Was used in reef tank so is safe for all uses.
