I'm really jealous of that zoo collection. By the way, hows the phosphate control going?

Your suncoral is having babies!!!

Thats just awesome. I bet that if you're seeing one there are others hiding that you just haven't found. That one didn't just happen, its too big BTW. If you go looking for babies I found the heaviest concentrations were above and surrounding the mother colony.

congrats

How bout a couple of current full tank shots? One of the early days and one more recent. I'm sure they are in this huge post but I don't have the time to search.

I just shot some video of the tank under actinics only. If they are worth watching, you'll see the full tank. I should take a full tank picture tomorrow, as I just cleaned the glass extra well this evening. (Weatherson's fault!)

The lights barely turned off, but in about an hour, I want to try to feed the sun corals and other LPS, and I'll squirt a little food at the new baby I discovered. Colleen, it is super far away from the parent colony, and I'm going to assume that is the one I've had for over a year. It must be 24" up above the coral.

I haven't tested the water in probably two weeks. I keep saying I'll do it, but then procrastinate. I need to get that done, so I know what the PO4 readings are, as well as the other readings.

Plate corals are in the SPS family, and nothing will spawn off that skeleton unfortunately. LPS can and do make babies.

Btw, today I found another baby plate coral trapped or dangling off the millepora, so I put it in a small glass jar in my frag tank to let it grow larger. I wish they'd quit blowing off the skeletal base, because until they make a new skeleton, it is impossible to place it anywhere as it blows away easily.

You know, I am making it too complicated. I was referring to a plating coral known as Montipora foliosa (similar to M. capricornis) but I do see how you may have thought about Fungia (plate) corals. Sorry about that.

Here's a great shot of some plating coral, like the one that I recently lost. Mine was orange though.

I liked that part too. Great video!

What kind of lighting schedule do you have (when do lights turn on & off)?

Okay Marc, repeat after me: "My fish have an eating problem." Boy when you say you feed well, you mean it. I've never seen fish so fat. You really get a better sense of depth with the video versus still shots. Cool video.

I really don't think Marc's fish are fat. Here's a picture I took from above of a wild Naso on the reef at Molokini (Maui, HI). Much thicker than what you typically see in someone's tank, in fact, very similar to the appearance of Marc's fish.

Wow, judging by the posture and the visable "tangs", that fish did NOT want his picture taken

"DAMN PAPARAZZI!"

Naso tangs (The entire family) cannot erect or lower their spines. They are fixed just like you see in the pic.
Nice top down shots though.

Molokini has good diving. We went there once in February and you could hear the humpback whales singing in the background, (as long as you didnt breathe anyway).
It was awesome...
