No SPS for me. Mainly LPS and some large softies. My fish have some hiding spaces and enough filtration. BUT I wish I could incorporate my flat Tonga pieces better....

Welcome vthondaboi, Looks good, if it were me,But you all know I am not the aquascaper at all, but if it were me, I would take the 3 flat pieces an mount them up in the back and attatch some mushrooms to them. They are covering up some really nice live rock you have there. IMO, But like cediss said, it is what you think that is important. the tank looks great though.

Glad to see you could put down the little fellow to let us know you are still around cedliss, I will be doing the same thing here in another month, My youngest daughter is having one and then the oldest boy is having one in Jan. I'm happy for you.

Went to the LFS and got me a Feather duster, to replace the one I bought last week. they replaced him. the onr I bought last week never came out, he backed out of the tube and havent seen him since. I'll take a pic here in a bit.

What do you mean by mount them in the back?

About attatching mushrooms, I've been thinking of putting some of my acans or zoos there and let them grow all over it.

Can you set them in the back of the rock straight up and sort of fan them out? Zoos would look great too. It was just a thought, It may not even work. I just like the looks of the other rock too, and they cover them up.

Gosh Mike! you should be able to trade at LFS for something else, wow 5? thats crazy, they must be really happy! can you show more pics please?????

Welcome bergzy, tank is really nice, are you running actinics just on the one side?

vthondaboim much much better, it will blend in when the coralline algae starts seeding, and as you start adding corals to the tank, they always look a little odd till the live stuff gets added. You did good!

I only asked because the left side looked bluer than the other, I didnt know if you were keeping lower lighted coral on that side.

And I did it again tonight..........my car drove me right to the LFS , AGAIN.............I had to get that Gonipora. and they had a clove coral with green centers, I had never seen one before, they never even noticed the green centers until I brought it up! I have been REALLY BAD the past 2 weeks!!!! I am smelling a divorce comming.... LOL I swear, I'm going to stop. I really need my lights and my skimmer!!!! I think I need help, Do they have a therapy forum on RC? If not, we need to start one. LOL

vthondabo, I feel for you, I really do, I can see me all over again buying and buying and buyiing to fill in all of those bare spots, (Oh I need some red over here, and I think I need some blue over there)......it is soooooooo addicting. When Mike said his anenome split again, the first thought was.... I wonder if he would sell me one! See, I really need help! ROFL

Actually I plan to fill up my tank slowly, mainly through proprogation. Here's what's being stored in my prop tank until I'm ready to move them in. BTW my RBTA split ealier this week! So I have 4 anemones.

sorry for not reading the whole thread where i may have missed this question (forgive me its 2:40 in the morning, my eyes are a bit tired)

but what do you all have for lighting? im going to setup a standard 180 and was debating on the lighting, i was thinking of either going 3 - 175mh or 3 - 250mh, not sure what i can get away with, thx

it all depends on what you want to keep

VHO is good for almost anything, or so I've heard, so I went light on the MH as I won't be doing much SPS if any at all, and maybe a couple of clams, but no croceas

I went with the Hamilton fixture which had 3 175MH and 2 160? watt VHO. I actually don't use the center MH for now. The fan kicks in but is a bit noisy when the two side MHs come on.

But even if you don't keep high light demanding corals I personally like the shimmer look that MH lights give off.

Hamilton 6' fixture - 3 175 14k MHs + 2 55W PC ACTINICs + 1 55W PC 7100k blue and 1 55W PC 10k. I'm now trying to get a wide range of lighting spectrums in my tank. I'd definately go with MHs and if you're not keeping SPS then 175s would work for softies and lps (i've had great success this way), you decide on the coloring (I prefer bluer). If SPS are in your future, then 250 or 400s would be better IMO for growth and coloring. I agree with vthondaboi the shimmer and coloring with MHs is very nice.

welcome back divein4444, glad you came back to show your progress, looks great, you can post anytime, close ups are good too, love to see all of the newstuff everyone is adding.

vthondaboi, very nice collection, cant wait to see this all in the big tank I love the zoos too!

Welcome hail_sniper,and LivingTropicals! Sam, If you can do the MH please go for it, I am in the pprosess of changing over myself, sunday I p/u 1 of the 175 hamilton MH fixtures. I cant wait. Just do it right the first time, or you will just be sorry you didnt, and have to pay more out later on anyway, I think the 175 or 250 will fix you up for pretty much anything you are saying you want in the tank. Lighting and skimmers you dont want to short cut yourself on. do you all have pics to post? We LOVE pics!!!!!

LivingTropicals, that IS a nice lighting set up. I would like to see it.
