questions about reef a palooza

I was thinking about going to this event but Im not sure. It seems like it would be really informative and fun. So here are some general questions:

Where is it held? Someones house or something?

Do I have to pay to get in?

How many people usually show up to one of these events?

I heard there will be raffles...How much are the tickets?

I hear people bring a ton on frags to sell...Wont the corals get damaged because of the heat and no lighting/air etc etc?

Are the prices on hardgood from vendors reduced?

Will I be chased by a bunch of clingon suit wearing startrek nerds?

What are the ages like? will I be the only one there thats young?

Anyone bringing some brew? What about food? How much?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to know what Im getting into if I go...

Re: questions about reef a palooza

For directions, see: http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=634510

Do I have to pay to get in?
Nope, it's free.

How many people usually show up to one of these events?
100-200

I heard there will be raffles...How much are the tickets?
$1

I hear people bring a ton on frags to sell...Wont the corals get damaged because of the heat and no lighting/air etc etc?
No, they take a much worse beating getting shipped. The weather will be mild, and most people keep them in individual containers in coolers. Some people set up mini-frag tanks instead. At some swaps, heat/ice packs are in order as well, but not this one.

Really, the corals are fine.

Are the prices on hardgood from vendors reduced?
You'll have to ask the vendors. Only R-A-P allows outside vendors, for the most part, and this is only year #2

Will I be chased by a bunch of clingon suit wearing startrek nerds?
Not at this swap.

What are the ages like? will I be the only one there thats young?
Probably not. We usually have anywhere from teens up to old geezers. Some reefers bring their younger kids as well.

Anyone bringing some brew? What about food? How much?
This is not really a drinking swap. BBQ and non-alcoholic beverages are provided coutesy of SCMAS.

Sorry for all the questions I just want to know what Im getting into if I go...
Come have fun. This one is a bit unlike the usual backyard swaps since we have speakers and a raffle and vendors showing off, but the company is that same.

It is super close to you and I am sure you will have a great time. You should also come to the SCMAC club meeting which is this friday night at 7.00. Lots of information shared and a great raffle there too.

Nope, he only likes to bag on the type like yourself. I suggest you bring a gameboy with you.

proraptor: I think Nicole answered your questions ... other than that, like others said, just relax and go to RAP. Chances are you'll have a good time, not much to lose. And if you do some research, there are lots of posts talking about RAP here and at SCMAS.org.

If you have not noticed, there are lots of ppl in the area to make this a fun event. Don't take it personal, it is just in spirit of fun... I think it gets more evident the closer we get to the swap. Oh yeah, bring the gameboy just in case

Thanks
