Thumbs up MASLAC August Meeting Recap! SIzzling Summer Fun!!!

Hey Everyone:

Last night we had a wonderful meeting!

We had terriffic attendance (over 30) and gained some renewals and 2 new members: Lee Birch and Barbara Sweet! Everyone in attendance had a great time!

Our Featured Tank presenter, Beverly Bruce, gave a very nice presentation on the evolution of her marine aquarium hobby experience, highlighting her successes (and pitfalls) along the way! Great job, Beverly!

Our Featured Speaker, Stevn Pro, gave an excellent, informative presentation on "Choosing Appropriate Fishes For The Marine Aquarium". This presentation provided both old and new hobbyists with good, solid information, and provoked lots of conversation on selection and health aspects of marine fishkeeping!

For those of you who want to read some of Steve's prolific writings in various publications, here is a link from his website:

Our raffle was awesome, featuring some fantastic dry goods donated by Coralife, EcoSystem Aquaria, and others! The highlight was the AquaMedic chiller donated by Jim Davis. Ted Truex won the chiller, and immediately donated it to Victoria Causton Keene, who really needed it for her nano tank! Chivalry is not dead at MASLAC! Lynne Laurita selected some amazing livestock, including a beautiful Fairy Wrasse, a Flame Angel, a fine Maxima Clam, and other neat stuff!

Thanks to everyone who attended for making our August meeting just another successful night for MASLAC! Remember, next week is the "Frags-A-Poppin' " event featuring Bob Fenner at SCMAS on Saturday, followed by the MASLAC Summer Tank Tour on Sunday!

Be sure to support both of our clubs by attending these exciting events! Check out the MASLAC website (www.maslac.org) and the SCMAS website (www.scmas.org) for more information on both of these events!

As we move into fall/winter, there are a lot more cool things going on, including some big time speakers (like Anthony Calfo and Joe Burger) and other fun activities to be announced soon. If you are interested in the fabrication workshop being proposed by Bryan Green, contact him and let him know that you want to participate when it happens!

Also, it's just about time for the elections for your MASLAC Board. ALL positions (President, 1st VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership, Outside Activities, Publicity, and Newsletter) are up for interested members to step in! With just a little extra (and usually, fun) time each month, you can have a big impact on the future of MASLAC by volunteering for one of these positions! Remember, it's YOUR club, so participate however you can! All paid members are welcome to volunteer for these positions!

Well- that's about it for now! See you next month! Be a part of the fun at MASLAC this Fall!

Regards,

Scott F.
