need pump suggestion

im looking for a pump or suggestion on a pump. it will be used as a closed loop on my 300g. tank is mostly softies and lps

i prefer it to be quiet and low power consumption.

the tank isnt drilled for the imput or output and its not an option. so it will have to be over the top.

the pump will sit behind or under the tank, it is about 5 ft from the floor to the top of tank.

Dustin,
I have an Dolphin Ampmaster 3000 pump on a closed loop that goes over the back of my tank. The inlet is a 2" slotted pipe and the outlet is 1.5" that splits into two 1.25" to form a circular manifold around the top of my 120. The pipes on the top are not glued so they could be added to.

The pump is 3000 gph at 140 watts.
I'd sell it all for 150.

LMK,

Doug

Dustin, I have two Sequence pumps under my tank. One is the 750, the other is the Dart. I do not recommend the Dart at all any more. They switched out the A.O. Smith motor for a cheap Mexican made junk. It runs loud, hot and I've had 2 burn up so far. What you are looking for (I assume) is a low RPM, low pressure pump.

How many outlets are you going to have for the closed loop? What size outlets?

The old Dart is a good pump, as is the 750 and 1000 series. You just have to stay away from the cheap motor.

Hey Dustin, on my 125 I ran a Dolphin Amp master with 9- 3/4" ports inside the tank. I was real happy with that set up. On the 240 I'm using 2 Hammer Heads each one has 8-9(can't remember for sure)1" ports inside the tank. The pumps are in the basement about 6-7 ft from the tank. They have been doing a real sweet job and are very quiet.

How can you tell if you have a new or old motor Dart? I purchased one about 2 months ago but haven't installed it yet.

Hey tabndust let me know your plans because I would like to do the same thing you are doing except for on a 90. I cant drill my tank anymore so I will have to do it over the top.
