I think two to three heads would be as small as I would go.

Well, thats my opinion...better chance of them living.

Randy at Reef Creations usually does 2-5 heads. I would say that you could probably even do 1/2 a head, but you will have better success with more heads. Also if you have a couple 1/2 heads they should heal up without issues.

Also, try not to be nervous, from what I have seen it is relativly striaght forward, just "shove the coral face first into the saw" as Anthony Calfo says.

Don't cut it face, or flesh first into a wet tile saw. Isntead saw through as much of the skeleton as possible without cutting into the flesh. Make this cut from the underside of the colony, flesh faced up. As soon as you get through much of the skeleton, you will feel the two halves become seperated. Finish off the cut through the flesh with a razor blade, as this is less damaging and stressful to the coral.

As Jay (eldiablo) said, do not be nervous. Acans are SUPER hardy. I have seen less than a 1/4 of a polyp glued onto a disk survive. If you don't believe me, go to A Reef Creation and check out the look down tank for living proof. There is a disk with what looks like only a tiny peice of flesh thriving and loving life.
