cyclopeeze - how-to ?
Hi all -
Question for you. Do you feed cyclopeeze? If so, what method do you use? I tried a syringe and blasting it at the corals I want to feed, but the stuff just floats right above the coral. I tried putting it in the tank with the pump/powerheads running, but it just doesn't seem that it has enough contact time with the corals for them to benefit. My best thought is to feed it with the return pump (and therefore overflow) off but with the powerheads on. This way I won't lose any into the overflow just to get trapped in my filter sock. Thoughts? Josh |

Josh,
I never have my return pump running when feeding corals no matter what I am feeding. Most foods for the corals is very small and most will wind up in the sump if you leave the return running. JMHO

Josh,
I shut my return pump off for about 45-60 min and it seems to work well, with my closed loop on. I think it will work fine with just your powerheads on. Just thaw it and dump in front of the powerhead and wait about an hour. Some will find its way to overflow, but if you have a fuge with your sump....those critters will enjoy them as well. Geo

As the others stated, return pump is off for at least 15 minutes anytime I feed.
I do one heavy feeding every day that includes cylcopeeze along with different frozen shrimp and flake food mixed with garlic and vitamins....use a squirter to feed toward all my LPS and in the area of SPS with all pumps off, after 5 minutes or so turn on all "Internal" pumps then 10 to 20 minutes or more after that turn on the return pumps. |
