Aqua C Remora Skimming Wet
I cannot get my skimmer to stop overflowing. I have to empy the collection cup twice a day. It is raised as high as it can go and I did give the entire skimmer a vinegar bath a month ago and it did not help at all. It was fine for the first few months I had it, I did not have to empty it this much. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to make it stop overflowing?
Thanks. |

What additives/supplements do you use in your tank?

I drip limewater once a week, that's all.

I hate remoras. Thats why I got rid of mine... ya gonna get more problems. If you can... buy a bermuda rogue or octopus and enjoy some real skimming.

When you make your water, do you use RO/DI or other water with conditioner?
Have you had an algae outburst that you've treated? There are things you can add to your tank that make the skimmer go crazy. The longevity of the problem would seem to suggest something in the water. Then again, have you replaced the stock pump or anything? Tracy

I change approximately 9 gallons of water every week with RO water, no conditioners added - just salt. TDS on the water is usually between 8-10. Also no algae outbreak in a long time, the tank has been stable the past few months. I do run carbon all the time in a canister filter, could that be an issue? I'm taking that out to see if it makes any difference.

mine only seems to go nuts when I add an additive of some sort. It is doing an amazing job other than that. One time I put a red slime remover in, and it went crazy. Has been good since then.

I would let it run its course. THe skimmer is letting you know that there is something in the water that shouldn't be there. I ran a remora before and they are tricky to keep adjusted, but if you are having this issue, I would say that there is something in the water that needs to gat out.
