what the heck!! is that

just noticed some type of shrimp "or something"
it shot out of the rock and back in before i good a good look at it.
any ideas

it was about 1inch
i have been searching the web and yeh--it's a mantis
someone must have a trap idea
i only have snails and hermits and 2 pep shrimp

I found one in my 90g and was EXTREMELY lucky to catch it. I heavily fed the tank and left my arm in holding a net. 90 minutes later I caught it.

I dont know how you will catch it but it can eat almost anything in your tank. get it out asap.I had one in my 28 gal. and killed it trying to catch it.but it was done.good luck.

I have used the pop bottol method to catchj crabs before. I dont see why it would not work for a mantis.

Rick I googled mantis shrimp trap there you will find answers on how to make them and get them out. By the way google mantis shrimp videos, after watching a couple of the videos it sent shivers down my spine! One was even posted on RC before. I would get that sucker out as soon as you can no matter what you have to do after watching those videos. Good Luck!!!

man... mantis shrimp are so pretty, its a shame they are pests. Can't the even break through the tank glass? I wonder if acrylic is ok.

Go to the mantis forum, they'll tell you how to catch it, and will probably even pay you for it
