QT - Medication ???

I have recently set up a QT tank after a nasty bout with a fungus where I lost TOO much livestock to mention, trust me people Quarentine, please.

I was looking for help in setting up a general medication program to use on ALL new fish while they are in QT, there are soo many brands out there and I just dont want to pick one out of the air.

If this sounds like a good idea, any helpful suggestions would be welcome, ie. type of medication that has worked for you.

I don't routinely use medications, but I do treat new fish with hyposalinity. Sometimes I will use praziquantel for parasites other than ich or velvet. Adding a tiny bit of Beta glucan to the food for a couple of weeks can be beneficial as it enhances immune function.

Do not want to derail the topic but i am adding betta glucan right now to my food. Bought at WholeFoods. It is in powder form inside capsules.
I am adding it to the food and let it soak for a bit before feeding. The powder doesn't completely dissolve in water and thus far has made my tank a cloudy milky color. Pretty unsightly. How do you suggest feeding it ?

I also read somewhere that the dosage was to be about 30mg a day per fish. That sounds incredibly high to me as a capsule is only 3 mg and two of them have enough powder to milk my 110 gallon tank.

That dose for Beta glucan is extremely high. It only takes a tiny amount in the food each day for a couple of weeks. Why are you using it? Follow this link and let me know if that helps.

I am using it in one of my halfbaked attempts to see if my fish will become immune to the ich i have in the tank, with a little help from me (uv, garlic, selcon, beta glucan, aggresive skimming and good diet).

So far its not working.

I just cant set up a quarantine tank right now.

Thank you for the link. It helps a lot (i actually read half of it the other day).

again sorry for hijacking the thread

cheers
