A. polymnus (Black Var) Breeding Log
I have a client that has a spawning pair of Black A. polymnus. My own pairs have had a few setbacks, so we are going to give his pair a shot at raising the fry.

Sweet, how long have you had them before they first spawned? Ive been waiting for mine to spawn for over a year.

The aquarist has had the fish 2-3 years and they have been together in the same tank since day one. They have been spawning for almost a year.
The most recent nest was put down 7/14 or 7/15 and hatched 7/20 or 7/21. A tile has been put in place, the pair appeared a little put off by it, but we are still hopeful. They seem to be getting used to it being there. Time will tell. Pictures are being arranged. Since it is not my tank, I can't sit in front of it 24/7 like I would like to! Thank you for the interest!

Well the pair finally put down another nest last wednesday 8/8. They dropped it beside the tile, so we are going to try to recover the fry on hatch night using a larval snagger.
Planning to leave the tile in place so they get used to it, and hope that they take to it. Hatch has been in 6-7 days, so we will see how it goes on Tues - Wed night.
