Tonight, my Lawnmower Blenny posed again in the cutest spot ever. And all my pictures came out bad, except for the one taken with a flash.
And to my amazement, my female mandarin appeared for 45 seconds. I'd not seen her in weeks and figured something had happened to her. She looked fat, but of course did not come out into the light. So here's a dark picture of her way way up under the Toadstool in the LR cavework.

That's the primary reason why I don't have one. I love them but I would never see it!

Micki is the mistress of the double post. But even if we cut her post count in half, she still has 4-5 times the number of posts that I have.
Love the photos of the blennies sitting in leathers! Spleen |

LOL, glad I'm not alone. My Blennie's favorite roost is my Finger leather.

Hey that one didn't double post! What happened??? Maybe the curse is finally over?
I have found that posts made early in the morning don't double for some reason. I'm guessing it might have soething to do with how busy RC is? But then again, I could be wrong...

California.... here I come.... (O.C. theme song)
I was recently asked if I would like to be a speaker at the Marine Aquarium Expo, and of course I was happy to accept. The event takes place in Orange County on April 5 & 6th, 2008.
I was perusing the site to see what it is all about, and it looks like a fun affordable family affair: http://www.marineaquariumexpo.com/ So maybe I'll get to meet some of your west coast reefers in person.

So for some time now, I've been keeping suncorals in a small tank behind my reef. I enjoy feeding their little mouths each night, and I have something to look at when I'm in the sump area. I thought I'd take a few pictures this evening as an update.
The tank has no lighting, since these corals don't need it. That keeps algae from taking hold, which is a perk. A tiny pump pushes water from the sump into the tank, a small powerhead creates flow in the tank, and it drains back into the sump. Yesterday evening, I had another rock given to me with some suncorals to care for, and hopefully in time they will recover. They looked pretty rough (upper left corner of this picture). And from the front: Also in this tank, I have a small Dendrophyllia colony. There are 4 major polyps and 4 smaller babies around the base. And finally, this tank also has a few hitchhiker Orange Ball Anemones. They are in my reef, and some snuck in here.

About an hour ago, I decided to scrape off some brown slime that has been growing on the back glass. I wanted to do that while my son was here, so I could scrape and siphon while he controlled how much water exited my reef. However, it got too difficult to see what I was doing, and it seemed like Spock liked eating it.
So I decided to forego the siphon and just scrape everything nice and clean, and let the skimmer do its job. All of the anenomes look withered up, including the angled tank at the entry way. So whatever that stuff was, I was right about thinking it was evil. Time to run some fresh carbon.
