Another noob question: Wrennes and clams ...
A Crocea clam with a N. Wrenne.
Safe? or not safe? I'm still trying to plan out my summer project. |

Mantis can eat clams.
That being said I had a Hippocampus in with my N.wennera with no problems but the clam was considerably larger than the mantis.

As far as I'm concerned, the main issue with (giant) clams and (small smasher) mantis is lighting. Clams like lots of light -- usually needs MH lighting. Many mantis don't like that much light. However, N. wennerae is found in very shallow water, so it's peachy.

I think this whole high lighting thing is blown way out of proportion. From what i understand most gonodactylids will do fine in high light as long as they have a PROPPER cavity to live in and molt in. High light, bad water= shell disease. And from what I have read Shell disease is only common in large animals such as G. chiragra.
