HUGE tessalata eel?

Ive heard a lot of talk about how big tessalatas get in captivity but have never heard a first-hand account of a 6' tess. Im not saying they dont get that big, just that i see a lot of people repeating what they hear. I would love to see a picture of one bigger than 5' in an aquarium.

According to liveaquaria.com, tessalatas get 5' 10" in aquariums and should have at least a 180 gallon.
Liveaquaria isn't the fish bible but they tend to give good advice on tank size.

So lets see those HUGE tessalatas everyones been saying wont fit in a 180.

Tessalatas canbe quite active its not just size which gallons is worked out on.
Any aquarium that can house a full grown tessalta i would rather put a shark or ray in

great question

btw- I have seen an 8 year old (approx.) in a 1000g tank, well fed/taken care of, and it was in no way over 5 ft.

I have seen in a LFS where they had a couple of them in the 4"-5" range in the same tank, I don't remember the size but I think it was 6' tank. The eel gets quite thick and both took up a good amount of the tank. They didn't have a lot of space to move around.

seen a 5 foot tess. wasnt to old either only 3 years before he got it at 2ft.
these things live for like 20-30 years and reach upwards of 9 feet.

given proper diet sized aquarium i dare say they could reach a good part of their natural size

Here's mine, Its hard to measure it but id guess its 3-4'. I know, the water is yellow. My tank is lit with 100% natural sunlight and has a ton of algae in the 2 refugiums which turn the water yellow.

zemuron, now why would you say something so sterotypical like that? The most aggressive fish in my tank is the domino damsel.

no doubt, lol. I have a titan trigger, giant hawkfish (C. rivulatus), and a stonefish in my tank - and guess who attacks me??? The freakin' 4-stripe damsel! he is a terror.

lol, my domino damsel will swim right next to the tessalatas mouth and fan its tail, trying to scare the eel out of its territory. One of these days......

monsters as in GIANT not mean.. However i have heard they to get mean when they get big. But i relate that to people cramming them into a 150 gallon tank when they are 4' long

My blue damsel is a freakin' terror.. I hate it. lol
