Moorish Idol help please..

My friend has a 75 gal. tank with 2 Moorish Idols. I had given him a purple urchin and when he added it to his tank, he put the water in too from my tank. His tank is fish and snails only and mine is coral. Afterwards his fish started fighting and damaging each others fins. This is with the light on, but as soon as you turn off the lights they are just fine even after they adjust to the low light. What would cause them to fight with the lights on? Could it be from my tank?I add calcium, marine snow and Marc Weiss Coral-vital to my tank. SG 1.024, all parameters are good.
If anybody has any idea
Please help.

If turning off the lights calms them down, it is doubtful your tank water caused the problem. More likely it is due to two large fish being kept in a small tank, especially a species as incredibly sensitive as moorish idols. Very, very few ever survive in captivity.

moorish idols are highly sensitive fishes... if they seems to be doin well in low lighting, i dun think it's the water... guess they really need more space to swim around

Plus they are establishing a dominant/sub-ordinate heirachy and eventually the dominant can and will kill the sub. So I would say either get rid of one or add more to a larger tank. Hope this helps.

My friend decided to take one of them back to the LFS. The LFS told him when he bought them that he could put three Moorish Idols in a 75. Thats just unbelievable!!!!!!!! Well, I hope they give him some money back but I doubt it. Thanks again.

I've heard that Moorish Idols are tough to get to eat. What does he feed it?
