Smile the story of benny the blenny

hi, just thought id share a lil bit

a lil while ago when my brother had finished setting up and cycling his new tank we went out to buy his first fish. my brother wanted large predetory fish but the fish store we went to had no stock of that type.

my brother was getting sick of his fishless tank so after being assured by the lfs owner that its speed would keep it safe with his future tank mates my dad and brother bought a fairly large blenny

we then went to another lfs and my family fell in love with the largest niger triggerfish tha i have ever seen, so ofcourse they bought that aswell.

after we got home while both bags were being floated in the water we saw the big trigger patiently staring at the blenny while he cowered in the other corner of his bag.

couldnt let him just be eaten so me and my mum were franticlly running around trying to convert my QT tank intoa real tank for him. we dumped in some extra crushed coral we had lying around threw in sum plastic plants from my fw days and a fake pipe ornament.

he took awhile to settle in but has now become quite a character. we decided to name him benny and he now goes insane when ever sum1 walks past the tank swimming up against the front glass of the tank. he sits with his head poking out the top of his pipe staring at u with puppy dog eyes. he sucks on any1's hand or finger that goes in the tank. but perhaps most entertaining of all. he will jump his entire body out of the water to bight ur finger or food. i can feed him now without food ever touching the water . hes not an unfriendly fish, he just likes to bight things lol.

we got him a valentine puffer companion, and they both seem happy and are friendly with each other.

benny is now a novelty in the house, very pleased i didnt let my brother feed him to the trigger . i however still have no idea what kind of blenny he is, at the lfs he was simply labeled as "blanny" (yes, spelt with an "a")

this thread is dedicated to my qt tank R.I.P

is it normal for a blenny to jump its entire body out of the water on command?
