My 75G tank thread
Hi all,
I started in keeping salt water fish since around 6 months ago, as that's when my girlfriend bought me my 20Gallon tank for my newly purchased condo. Time has passed, and spent tons of time reading and learning from here, I think I am ready to start a bigger system. One purpose is to keep more fishes, another is to start keeping corals as well. Coming from a very simple FOWLR system, this is a huge step up. I am starting this thread to keep track and share the progress of the 75 Gallon that I am building. Before I start, I want to give special thanks to a member here "sokin". He has gave me many many, and MANY great advices and suggestions. I probably would still be sitting here all confused without him. Thanks Chris! I am open to suggestions and opinions as to how I am improve the system, since I am still a newbie obviously. Jan 9 Not much happening, just got some stuff around a week ago, and still waiting for others to arrive. Perfecto 75G 48"x18"x21" Corner-Flo /w Plumbing kit + matching stand Tank Return nozzle Overflow pipe 2x Koralia 4, 1x Koralia 3 Tek light 6 bulbs fixture I bought these used for a very good deal, came with 8 bulbs, with 6 of them being used for 3 months (2x 12,000k, 3x super actinic, 2x super actinic plus, and 1x 10,000k). I have ordered the mount, but it's not here yet. I am glad that I went for T5HO but not MH, for the heat issue - as the heat from T5 would be the max that I would tolerate in my living room. Light With Super Antintic and Super Antintic plus With 2x 12k, 3x super antintic, 1x super antintic plus 60lb of caribsea sand, some salt 29G AGA 30"x12"x18" using it as sump I have ordered: Coralife 125G skimmer /w pump Quiet one 3000 pump to use as return pump for the sump dkh, calcium, phosphate test kits magnet cleaner gloves RO/DI system (75 gpd) Tek light mount Jagar 250W heater Coralife hydrometer Things I still need to order: 50# of Marcorocks from marcorocks.com (awaiting for their shipping quote to Canada) Will update as soon as other parts arrive. Cheers, Chris |

I like where you're headed. 75's are a great size to start with!!
Have you considered painting the back so you don't see the equipment??? It's not a bad way to go. On the flip side, my friend has a 125 with no paint on back and it makes the tank look HUGE! Either way, I'd say you're off to an awesome start! Best of luck, Keep the pics coming.

steri - Thanks! I've done alot of readings, but I feel like it's never enough. I am going to take things very very slowly to make sure I am not making any mistakes! Quote:
I will keep the pics coming whenever I have them available! At the mean time, any advices are welcome. |
