cryptic zone users?

i set up my blue pvc barrel a while back and filled with lr and a 5g bucket refugium on top. the bucket drains out and down a long section of pvc to the bottom of the barrel to create a reverse (fluidized) flow. next, i bubble some air via a coralife sl-65 (like the car!) from bottom to top. water then flows out through a bulkhead near the top of the barrel. this keeps particles suspended 'gently' in the water without the use of pump impellers that 'might' damage any planktonic life. of course, what happens to them when they reach the sump and the return and circulation pumps...they are on their own!!!

the area is a separate, dark, gentle flow chamber with no intentional introduced predatory critters

why all this 'trouble'?

to create a cryptic zone. a zone filled with sponges, tunicates and hopefully mermaids!!!

I have a multizone refugium but the benethic zone is not totally dark. Maybe that is why I have no mermaids?
