It only took me 6 times to get it right! Oh well, I stuck with it and finally got it right. Thanks for the idea. My coral seem to enjoy the alternating current.

Not completely understanding, what needed to be accomplished, was my biggest problem and it took me multiple attempts to "figure" out exactly what the problem was. Not anyone's fault except mine; just my lack of vision.

All the gears and spring ended up falling out and I didn't know where they were supposed to go. Good thing I had another timer laying around or I'd never have gotten it back together again.

Getting the cut/bending mod right, was the most difficult part. I had trouble getting "contact" points adjusted just right after making the mods. They weren't contacting, at any time, after my first couple of attempts and the pump wouldn't start.

By the way, which powerhead are you using? Do you have multiple ones alternating in your tank?

I went to Walmart here in Tampa and cannot find the timer. I did find an Intermac outdoor timer but it looked quite different. can someone tell me where to find locally if they have?

The newer version of the timer is made by Timex. It looks exactly like the Intermac and contains the same components. I took both of them apart. I actually used parts off of one after I broke them by accident on the other one.

Be very careful when undoing the "clips" on the clear plastic housing that contains the gears. Also, make sure you observe the position of all the parts before "pulling" apart the unit after removing the 3 screws. I didn't, and it created some confusion, when reassembling the unit, after making the mods.

Currently, I've got mine set for 40sec on and 20sec off. With my other powerheads and skimmer returns, I've got some pretty random flow. So far, the corals seem to appreciate it .

Wow... IMHO that's a testament to the great quality of the pump, having to withstand the inrush current so often and for so long.
