i bought my first zooanthids at petstore, i love em , read my experience !!!

went to the petstroe and they had this coral that looked like 20 polyps extending out about an inch and then at the end had a trumpet like appearence.

i thought this was something other than zooanthids becasue i t hough zoanthids grew really really clsode to the rock ,but now i have found out otherwise

here are my questions though

this seamat has polyps that are dime size

do all zoanthids reach dime size , or just certain ones

i bought anothder one that has brown centers with green skirts, but they arent as pretty , becasue their polyps are smaller than a pencil eraser

whats some more zooanthids that grow to this larger size ?

these are the oens im interested in getting

Sounds like you might have palythoa or protopalythoa (the larger polyps), as versus zoanthids (smaller polyps).

You'd definitely be looking at the proto's or paly's. There are a number of really nice proto's. Perhaps the most popular is the PPE (Purple People Eaters). There seem to be a lot of green slit mouths in this species. If you do a search on protopalythoa, you should find some good pics.

i just like the bigger polyps casue they ar easier to see from a distance.

i will make a website later and post my pics so you guys can see them

oh , how do you frag zooanthids, i wouldnt mind busting up the smaller ones i have and starting them in several different locations
