Trying to find out if my tank is tempered
I have a 110 XH I recently purchased used and I'm trying to figure out if the back is tempered. The bottem has a tag indicating that it's tempered and not to drill, but I'm wondering about the back.
There's another sticker on the bottom with a picture of an anchor, is this a logo of a tank manufacture? If so, I'll give them a call. I don't see any other indicatations of brand on it. Thanks! |

Normally manufacturers do not temper anything but the bottom. An easy way of telling if it's tempered is to look at the glass at an extreme angle along it's length. When tempering glass the sheet is held in the oven by tongs and a small dimple is left in the glass after it has cooled. Look along the top and bottom areas for a small dimple. Curved glass is less noticable but unless the piece was cut from a larger piece the dimples will be there.
If all else fails just try drilling it......just kidding. |

It is a Perfecto aquarium, call them and check I just checked on mine and they said the SIDES were not tempered the bottom is and that the new ones were going to be all regular glass even the bottoms. My tank is a TOP FIN from Petsmart but Perfecto makes them for Petsmart and I had a devil of a time finding it out that it was a Perfecto. I ordered my bulkheads today......A drilling we will go....a drilling we will go .... high ho the merry o a drilling we will go..
