Quarantine: Conundrum?

I'm setting up a brand new tank and ready to add LR.

On the one hand, I'm thinking that a lot of the worms and pods from the LR will help establish a healthy sand bed.

On the other hand, I'm reading threads (Like "Quarantine 101") where its suggested to put the LR in a quarantine tank on top of suspended egg crate, then vacuum away all the "bad guys" that fall through?

My head hurts! Is there a best method?

Yes. Check the rock over very carefully for unwanted hitchhikers. Add all the sand, rocks and water to your tank. Start up your circulation and wait for the cycle to complete. During that time you can scout for things you may have missed but don't want in your tank. There really isn't any reason to be overly anal about the start up cycle, it's the easiest part
