Question Kent auto shutoff help

I have just installed the kent marine auto shutoff kit for my RO/DI unit. It uses a presure solenoid and check valve, so the draw was that I didn't need any electricity...

Well, I installed per the instructions, and it appears that the solenoid is not tripping, as waste water is still being produced. I double checked the installation of the check valve, and it appeared to be installed properly. I feel like I am getting good pressure, because when I check for possible leaks and remove a tube from the RO membrane, water comes flying out (as if there is a bunch of built up pressure). I did see that this is for 10 to 60 GPD systems (unbeknownst to me upon purchasing the product, mine is 100 gpd) but didn't see this as being a real issue, other than perhaps knocking down my daily output.

Any ideas what might be wrong? Not enough water pressure going in? The whole 100 gpd out put thing? I won't be able to call kent until monday, but thought I see if anyone has any experience here.

Thanks
Scott T.

The diagrams were confusing to me as well. You will find Kent very helpful. For now you may wish to turn off the water.

Not sure about this, but I think it IS the membrane capacity that is throwing off the unit. I have the same unit, and a 60gpd Hi-S. The rating in GPD is determined by the little flow restrictor piece with a tail. If you remove or damage this, it won't work properly. My guess on what's happening is that the larger flow restrictor--i.e. not restricting as much, isn't creating enough back pressure to trip the solenoid. I'd try putting in a smaller restrictor & go from there. good luck.

What RO/DI unit are you using? I had the same problem turns out the RO membrane housing had its own check valve built in, which caused a problem with the complete shutoff.

I am using an airwaterice typhoon...

I just checked and it appears that check valves are already installed into the membrane housing. Any idea on how to get around this issue?

Thanks

drill it out. Carefully, and only if you think you can replace it if you F#(& it up.
