Outdoor Reef Problem

My outdoor reef is getting too much sunlight...seems like the U.V. is too strong and is burning my frags. In natue this is filtered out by the depth of the water but my tank is only 6-8' deep.
Before I give up...does anyone have any Idea's to cut down on the u.v. like a special glass of shade???

Many have shade-cloth canopies over their tanks. They sell those at nursury supplie stores.

In principle UV should be stopped in good measure by normal glass, depending on the thickness or number of layers.
Shade cloth lower the over-all light intensity for all wavelengths,
so it depends on what you want/need I guess.

I have no out-door reef experience however.

Any sheet of glass will cutout the UV. Greenhouse sheeting is cheap and cuts UV as well.

Shade cloth will reduce the intensity of the light.

My frag tanks are under 10" deep and the frags sit on frag racks that are 4" off the bottom. My corals love the sunlight. - Unfiltered and unshaded.
