fish ok with seahorses?
I'm getting a new tank! Ok my question is what fish can be in the same tank as a seahorse in a 26 gallon tank. Its going to be a reef tank with my 7 gallon as a refugem eventually. The only fish I really want is a yellow watchman goby. I know the tank has to be really well established before I put the seahorse in, so this is for later down the road. ( the real reason is my mom bought me my tank and she loves sea horses!)

Seahorses are easily stressed by fish that move around too much.
Cohabitants of seahorses must under _no_ circumstances be agressive, since the reaction of the seahorse is just to hang on and wait until the fish goes away. If seahorses are stressed, they may simply refuse to eat. For example if their partner dies, or if they are housed incorrectly with large or non-peaceful fish. You can only house a limited range of corals that will not sting the seahorses. Please research seahorses _heavily_ before buying, they are very delicate creatures and require a lot of care. Good places for internet research: www.seahorse.org www.syngnathid.org Get captive bred seahorses. They will have a chance of surviving. sorenb |
