Hippos Love ICH!

My hippo got ich in the old tank befor I upgraded and while I was upgrading to a newer tank. I caught all the fishes and left them in a bucket with no oxygen and it nearly died. So now its in a new tank but its covered with ich. This is FOWL tank no inverts or anything has sand thats about it. Is their anything I can do to remove the ich? I am feeding food socked in garlic thats about it. Wonder if its safe to drop the salinity from 1.024-1.018 or something.

I would suggest reading this thread http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=282934 sd since you are in a FOWLR you could treat in the tank if you don't want to QT.

The hippo still eats like crazy and is scratching against rocks, I think the near suffication caused the ich to return. If i treat DT will it mess up my rocks and sand? I also have a tube worm but I think I can pull it out.

hmm i read that copper gets stuck in your tank and messys things up.is that truly good to use? The hippo cleared up for a day and than it is full blown again. My salinity is at 1.025 if I lowered it to 1.020 will there be any affects on ich or do I have to decrease it down to 1.09 with in 2 water changes?

Happy Face......I have the same problem in my 180. I tried a product from here called no sick fish. Did not see results. I was going to use a product by Seachem called Cupramine. I am still up in the air. I just ordered a bottle of kick ich and coral vital. I am going to try another reef safe method and if that does not work I will be using the Cupramine in my FOWLR. I know it will more than likely deplete my snail population but in my opinion I would rather try and save the fish.

Sorry to hear that RBU, GL with the treatments. I too am looking around for a way to treat a FOWLR, is what happyface said is true about copper being stuck in tanks? RBU let me know how the results go for the other medicines thanks
