Copperbanded butterfly
I am aware how difficult these are to keep. I have one and aclimatization went well. No signs of ich or stress. Although it is only day 2.
How can I get him start eating. He will not take brine, or pellets. Any other suggestions? |

Mine eats live brine shrimp, but goes wild over live black worms. The black worms are sold for freshwater fish and are more nutritious than brine shrimp. Some people have luck with live clams from the grocery store, either cracked open and dumped in whole or chopped up first.
Some copperbands will eventually take frozen foods, but after two months, mine will still only touch live foods. As with any butterfly, they will do better long-term if fed several times a day.

Mine is one picky some biatch. He will tear thru black worms and then when they are gone it takes him two days to get hungry enough to switch back to frozen mysis shrimp.

You could always try some aiptasia.

I'd try cyclopeeze and maybe add a little garlic extract. You could also give it some aiptasia.

I feed mine Mysis, brine (frozen and live-gut loaded)and blood worms. they also like clams cracked open. Was the fish eating at the store? I had to try and feed 6 different ones until I got mine. Also is he in a QT or main display? If there are other fish with him it make take him a while to get adjusted.
