Actually I purchased it. Tunze makes them. However, with a little ingenuity one could be made out of argocrete and pvc. You would just need the proper dimensions.

they are 6000s and provide pleanty of current. I bought two somewhat flat live rocks to place under them. That should keep them from sucking us substrate.

I also have a pair, set up for about 2 weeks and they are starting to blend in with the LR. I placed mine higher in the LR piles, in case cleaning is necessary. So far there has been no evidence of inadvertant suction death problems.

Looks great! How easy will it be to remove the Streams for cleaning/maintenance?

Thanks

you know - originally when I saw these I wasn't impressed - but now that I see one in the tank covered up with rocks - it looks fine.

I was planning on making some out of aragocrete but why bother now.... For $70 you can have a ceramic rock...

I figured by the time I bought all the supplies to make argocrete and the time spent correcting my screw ups, I just as easily but the rock!

I personally do not think you should place heavy rocks on top of it.
Mine came in broken from shipping

corrected version

rarzillo has a point, don't place a lot of rocks on top of the rock/holder, but not because of the weight. Rocks in water weigh less because of the buoyancy principle. Having less to remove for access for cleaning is important.

"Rocks in water weigh the same as water, because of the buoyancy principle."

Rocks in water don't weight the same as water, or they would float.

Kind of correct Argthur, but they would float only if they weigh less than water. Note the correction above. Also the turbelle rock holders seem to be quite durable. Just because they were brocken in shipping doesn't mean they are fragile.

Ah, yes, "weigh less" sounds better. But again, if a rock weighs the same as water, it floats in the middle of the water. I didn't mean 'float to the top', just float in the water.

Those are cool! You can't tell they're even there!

But what exactly are they? Pumps hidden in rocks? I don't quite get it.

Paul-sn, yes, they are pumps. They are controlled by a multicontroller. They create a wave action. Some reefers use wavemakers to control their pumps. It's actually not pumping anything, it is somewhat like a powerhead. Not an accurate description. Maybe someone else on the board can do better explaining.
