Dory is Peeling
Hi All. i am having a problem and could really use your help! My dory looks like she is peelng. she has blotches, hanging skin and cut up fins. she is the only one in the tank that has this problem that started yesterday. we have had her in our tank for about 4 months with no problems. are tank perameters are as follows:
Amonia: 0.0 - 0.1 Nitrate: 10-20 PH: 8.2 Calcium: 420 KH: 125. these levels are better than normal for my tank so i dont think its this. the only thing that has changes is a couple of days ago my Power compacts ballast blew and i only currently have 3 175w metal halides running which is fine for hte tank but i can help but wonder if maybe its the shock from the sudden change??? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP! |

it may help also to add garlic to the food to boost the immune system

It may be head and lateral line erosion but the fin issue sounds like something different (perhaps someone is picking on her?). A pic would help a lot. In addition to the suggestions above for the HLLE, you should check your tank for stray voltage.

Hanging skin does not sound like HLLE to me. It sounds more like a serious bacterial infection or possibly brooklynella to me. I would probably try a combination of neomycin and nitrofurazone or neomycin with nifurpirinol in a quarantine tank right away. I hope the fish is still alive. It would not hurt to reduce the salinity in the Qtank also.

Doesn't sound like HLLE to me either.
You might consider formalin bath/dip in addition to the antbiotics Terry mentioned ... will help if your dealing with Brooklyella. Heres a link that might help. http://www.petsforum.com/personal/tr...oklynella.html |
